Outing to Luleå Gammelstad
On Tuesday 9th the conference will organize an outing to Luleå Gammelstad for those not attending the scientific symposium. We will leave after lunch by bus and be back in Piteå for dinner. Luleå Gammelstad is an old church town and an outdoor museum located about an hour by bus from Piteå. During the visit we will go on an outdoor guided tour with lanterns and take part in a traditional Swedish bread baking session.
Please sign up for the outing here if you are interested!
Warm clothes and winter shoes are recommended for the outing since the outdoor tour will take an hour and it may be very cold.
Guided Walking Tour of Piteå
After lunch on Wednesday 10th there will be two guided tour of Piteå for those interested. The tours will start at 13.00 & 14.00 at Piteå Stadshotell and will take approximately 40 minutes. There will be a bus leaving Studio Acusticum 10 minutes before each tour and then buses back in time for the coffee break before the performance of Fantasia Apocalyptica.
Lift up your voice to sing and celebrate!
If you enjoy singing, here’s a chance not to be missed. We are looking for a group of singers to sing three straightforward, simple songs.
Each of these is directly related in some way to Don Knuth’s Fantasia Apocalyptica. By singing them, you will both raise your appreciation and understanding of this new composition and help everyone who listens to you do the same. The third song will be sung by the whole gathered audience at the start of the concert.
Printed sheet music will be available upon your arrival in Piteå, but it would be ideal if you could take a look at the selections before then. The singers will have a one-hour rehearsal during the conference, possibly on Tuesday evening. Look for Jim Puls, who will direct this ensemble. The choir practice will be at Studio Acusticum between 6 pm and 7 pm. There will be transportation back to Piteå Stadshotell after.
